St. John’s United Church Pancake Breakfast

It’s Back!

Once again members and friends of St. John’s United Church will be serving its delicious potato pancake breakfast. This event has been part of the Alliston Potato Festival since its beginning, back in 1972. Over the years we have served an average of 1200 people during the morning, over 170,000 pancakes in total. That’s a lot of pancakes! We continue to use the same “secret” recipe that was introduced the first year, also selling small bags of the mix to many of our returning, as well as new, customers.

Although the recipe remains the same, many changes have occurred over the years. We have moved the venue from where it began at the main intersection of the downtown to our own premises at 56 Victoria St., E. We have become a “greener” event, moving from Styrofoam to paper products, and reducing our waste by 90%. Instead of a large waste bin, we now collect a small trailer load of materials for the green bin.

St. John’s has served the local community for 150 years; we would be celebrating our 50th pancake breakfast if Covid had not intervened. But we are back. Come join us on Saturday, August 6 for all-you-can-eat pancakes. Breakfast runs from 8:00 a.m. until 11: a.m. We look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones!
